Mogadishu – 02.02.2025 SIMAD Digital Studio hosted Mohamed Abduwahab Abdullahi, the Secretary-General of the Somali Media Association (SOMA) and the General Manager of Risaala Media, in a special visit aimed at fostering collaboration in digital media development.
During his visit, Mohamed Abduwahab was warmly welcomed by Dr. Abdikarim Mohaidin Ahmed, the Rector of SIMAD University, and Abdullahi A. Abdirahman, the Vice Rector of SIMAD University. The leaders discussed strengthening cooperation between SOMA and SIMAD University, particularly in advancing digital media initiatives and enhancing opportunities for young Somali journalists.
The visit aligns with SIMAD University’s ongoing efforts to develop digital media platforms, including the upcoming launch of SIMAD Podcast, a platform designed to empower students and young media professionals with industry-relevant skills. It also aligns with SOMA’s commitment to knowledge transfer, capacity building, and fostering innovation in the Somali media landscape.
SOMA recognizes academic institutions’ vital role in shaping journalism’s future. The organization remains committed to collaborating with universities to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical media experience, ensuring that the next generation of Somali journalists is well-equipped to thrive in an evolving digital media landscape.
